Sorbonne Winter University - Practical information
Held in the Sorbonne historic building, the Winter University offers a series of courses open to anyone wishing to learn something new or deepen their knowledge. Participants take part in a stimulating academic atmosphere and, at the end of the course, receive a certificate issued by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Who can register ?
The Sorbonne Winter University is open to anyone aged 16 or over who wants to learn something new or improve their knowledge (minors must have parental permission). The course cycles are preferably aimed at people with a minimum of two years’ higher education.
For all courses in French, the expected level proficiency is B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. However, no proof is required.
What do I get out of the course ?
Courses offered at the Sorbonne Winter University do not lead to degrees or grant participants any academic credits. Upon completion of the course, each participant is awarded a certificate confirming their attendance at the Sorbonne Winter University.
Where do courses take place ?
Classes take place in the historic Sorbonne building in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, mainly in emblematic amphitheaters such as Guizot, Descartes and Milne Edwards. Some courses are held at the Maison de la Recherche, also located in the Latin Quarter, in the 6th arrondissement.
